As a young school we have not experienced the devastation of war. Old Boys have not seen their classmates leave for the front and never return. But with the resurrection of
St. Martin’s on the Close here at Rathkeale we have been entrusted with a sacred
responsibility.
The lives of the nine servicemen, listed to the left, are commemorated on plaques in St Martin's on the Close.
St. Martin’s on the Close here at Rathkeale we have been entrusted with a sacred
responsibility.Nine men from the Mangaweka community, where St. Martins began, lost their lives in the two World Wars. We now have the task of protecting those memories, of ensuring that the ultimate sacrifice that these men made is not forgotten.
